How can coaching help...

What is it?

Coaching in a cafe
The best way to understand coaching (if you’ve not experienced it before) is to try it!

I offer a free, no-obligation introduction call that includes a short taster so you can “try before you buy”.

Life Coaching is a one to one conversational approach providing great strategies and techniques for making positive change in your life. It can show you how to get clear about what you want and how to get there. It focuses on the present and the future rather than dwelling in the past. Coaching works best with people who are motivated to make some changes in their lives and who feel psychologically stable.

I’ll ask you tailored, targeted questions, and use tools and exercises (no sit-ups or star-jumps I promise!) to help us both really understand what’s going on for you and how you look at the world.  Then I’ll help you figure out what you want and how to create it.

The questions and exercises get you thinking differently about things, looking at things in a different way and
approaching them from a new perspective.

How?

So how does it all work?

The first step is to get in touch by email to arrange your free no obligation consultation.  This is a 30-45 minute telephone session with me to explore what you're looking for from coaching and for you to find out everything you need to know about the service.  This will also include a "coaching taster" so you can see for yourself what it's like. To get in touch just click the button below:

The coaching usually takes place over a series of 6 sessions, each lasting around an hour, once a fortnight but this can vary depending on your requirements.  This is usually long enough to work on a particular challenge or issue in depth.

Some clients then choose to continue with further coaching sessions in order to explore other goals or to have less frequent "top-up" sessions.

A typical coaching journey of six sessions:

Session 1.  The first step is to come away from the environment where the issue is present (workplace, home etc), so we'll choose a neutral location that works for you.  In this session we'll get clear about your challenge or issue, explore how you see things and why your situation is challenging for you.  We'll get clarity around what you want and what's most important for you.

Sessions 2-5. Here we'll explore options and create achievable steps towards your desired outcome. As your coach I will guide you through exercises and techniques drawn from CBT, NLP, TA and other approaches, to bring clarity and new perspectives.  We'll work on overcoming barriers, explore what's getting in the way and how these barriers can be avoided and overcome. In each session we'll reflect on your progress.

Session 6. We'll look back at the journey so far and the next steps to continue and maintain your progress after the coaching sessions end.

Where?

Life coaching in the camper van
One of first things I ask a new client to consider is where they would like us to work together.  Where’s right for you? What’s going to bring out your best thinking? Is it in a café? On the beach? By a river or in a park? In comfy armchairs in a private space? In a cozy, quirky campervan?  It’s your life we’re working on, so you get to choose!
  • Do you prefer to be in a private space or a public space?
  • Do you prefer to be sat down or moving?
  • Do you prefer to be indoors or outdoors?
  • Do you prefer to be face to face in person or would you prefer to work over Skype from the comfort of your own home?
  • Do you prefer to use the telephone?

Some options for you to consider are:
If you're local to North Essex or South Suffolk:
  • Your place of work (if you have access to a private space)
  • Local public spaces such as coffee shops, hotels, parks, beaches and riversides
  • A private meeting room
  • The Coaching Campervan
Or if you're anywhere else in the world:
  • Using Skype (or similar) from the comfort of your own home (as long as you have a good internet connection)
  • Using the telephone from where ever you happen to be
